From the President
Dear Members, Colleagues, and Friends,
Welcome to another bar year! I am so honored to serve as President at what I believe is a crucial time for us all as we enter a new phase of life, leaving behind (at least for the time being, hopefully for much longer) the isolation experienced by us all when COVID-19 was at its height, so that we may enjoy increased opportunities to reconnect in person. That being said, my goal is to re-invigorate our membership through meaningful programming and providing resources meant to educate and empower you in keeping with our overall theme of “Bossin’ Up” this year. Our first event with the Richmond Kickers will undoubtedly provide a fantastic opportunity to reconnect informally for some fun. And please note that our events calendar is live, so mark your calendars now.
This bar year I will be sharing a monthly theme as a guiding principle for each month. Our theme for September is “Reset.” Although it has been many years since I have been a student preparing to begin a new school year, I still think of September as a time of new beginnings. As a mother, the new beginnings these days are focused on my children’s return to school, the return to schedules and gymnastics and soccer meets, leaving behind the lazy days of summer. But I have decided to challenge myself and you to reset and refocus by taking some time to decide what we want to accomplish for the remainder of 2022. In furtherance of that desire, here is this month’s book and podcast recommendation:
Many of us think about the things we want to improve and the goals we want to achieve, but we may find ourselves at a loss as to how to achieve them. Clear states in his book, “your current habits are perfectly designed to deliver your current results.” So, to get different results, you have to take a different approach. Let’s be willing to be different, challenge ourselves and go after what we want. We got this.
